As some of you may have heard, I attempted my first sprint triathlon of the season last Sunday. It did not go well. It was an open water swim and the waves were up-I was not prepared for that. I wasn’t able to finish the swim and had to withdraw, which is the first time I have ever pulled out mid-race…triathlon or otherwise. Just to add insult to injury, my awesome husband was volunteering the race and my mom, sister and nephew were in town. Sigh. So…I’m trying again. I signed up for the Outer Banks Sprint Triathlon September 23rd. I am using the mixture of frustration and embarrassment from not succeeding last weekend to fuel my training for this one, and I’ll be danged if I’m going to let it happen again!
The point? Just because you don’t succeed at something doesn’t mean you can’t-you just didn’t that time. It certainly does not mean you won’t succeed the next time. So give it another try-or in my case, another tri! 🙂
