Here are a couple of quick tips for reducing your footprint from your electronics. First, recycle your old cell phones! Admit it…you have at least one old one lying around! Less than 1% of cell phones are currently recycled. There are plenty of places to take it that are quick and easy…here is a link to a few of them from the EPA.
Next-unplug your appliances. This is one I am still working on. 10%…ten full percent…of the electricity used in your home is burned by electronics when they are turned off! According to my handy little book, if every US household unplugged just their cell phone chargers (that I do) and computers (working on it) when they were not being used, we would save over $100 million. That’s enough to provide free health care to every low-income child under the age of 5 in the state of California. See that? Not only are we going green, we’re also solving the healthcare crisis. Dawn for president!!!!
